When I posted challenge #12 over at theiconthrone, I just wanted to get people talking about resources they loved to use, and the ways they worked them into their icons.  Somehow it did not occur to me that I would have to talk about them, too.  Textures are pretty much a way of life for me, so here are some of my favorites I've collected over the years, along with a little bit of me talking about how I use them.

So, uh, there we have it!  Some textures for you to try.  All of them can be found in a gallery here; please be kind and credit the makers of each if you use them.  If you see a maker in this post, they also have a blanket recommendation from me for making wonderful textures.  I hope you found something new (or rediscovered an oldie-but-goodie) to spice up your next batch!
